Home to roost.
In the evening after my working day has finished I look forward to enjoying a cup of real coffee sitting in
my chair at home. For the following ten minutes the world stops and if I lean right back in my chair I can
just see this tree over the hedge in Guston Churchyard.
In the winter evenings, this tree is at most a silhouette against the twilight sky, for the remainder of the
year the sky beyond is a warm grey. The collared doves have built a nest in the tree and as they gather in
the branches we gather indoors at the end of our working day.
Another good day over.
